"I just wanted to say how impressed I was with all the individuals you had helping in the meet. I competed in your last meet back in March and had a great time at that one also. I have never been encouraged and cheered by so many people that I don't even know. Every attempt I would hear the spotters, loaders, and others yelling words of encouragement to me throughout the lift. They were doing this all the way to the deadlifts and for it being such a long day, I thought it was pretty cool. I have never been to a meet where you have so many people behind you. You almost feel like you have to get the weight because you don't want to let you or anyone else down that is watching and cheering for you haha. It's just great to see people go above and beyond what they are required to do and having everyone staying positive during a long day. "Too often in our sport people want to point out what is wrong or bad with a federation or meet or whatever, I would rather give feedback when I have a good experience in the hopes that it will reinforce the positives(and there are many) in powerlifting. I really enjoyed competing at your meet this past Saturday. I have only been competing for about 18 mos. but I have tried to experience different federations and meets. I have to admit I was kind of "talked into" coming on Saturday by Will Engellener who partially sponsors me and Wade Likens. They thought I might do well at Bench Nationals and I needed to get a lift passed in USAPL to qualify. I have heard much about USAPL both good and bad and figured I would come see for myself. I prefer doing full meets but the chance to train my bench with Wade this summer and compete against different lifters sounded fun. I was pleasantly suprised! The entire meet was VERY professionally run. But it did not have any of the ....."stuffiness" that maybe I expected. Great environment to compete in! I had to change my benching form to pass judging( I usually raise my head and bench with feet tucked) but It was fun to take on the challenge and get a lift passed. Certainly not my best but like I said, this was meant to be a learning/training meet. I also appreciated the attempt to keep the meet moving quickly in spite of the challenges of one platform and so many lifters. You had the loaders moving faster than a NASCAR pit crew! Finally, I want to thank you for your service. My son Josh will return home from Afghanistan next week after a year long deployment. My heart broke when you mentioned the young Marine killed in action since your last meet. Thank you so much for taking the time to acknowledge our servicemen and women!!
